Creating a unique sound and feel in today’s music world is difficult, yet DelRain has gloriously achieved it. Their songs incorporate soul felt, straightforward lyrics with dreamy melodies, while upbeat rhythms perfectly express the attitudes and energy of Mark and Michelle. Their music is wonderfully diverse and speaks to today’s audience.
Mark & Michelle
Mark hales from a large, musical family. Growing up, his father expected all members of their clan to participate in his front porch “picking sessions”. Mark owned his first acoustic guitar by age seven and was fronting a rock band in high school. Restless, he left Lancaster PA and headed West, performing as a solo act as he traveled, eventually settling in Arizona. As front man and primary songwriter for a rock band, he gained touring experience, even opening for The Gin Blossoms. Mark returned to PA in 1994, finding success once again with his new band, Oscar’s Box. Gaining notoriety, they opened for bands like Live, before refocusing on his acoustic roots and song writing. The result of his effort is an impressive book of multicolored songs and a musical prowess that captures attention.
Michelle grew up in rural New Jersey studying classical violin and cello. She aspired to be a singer even at a young age, encouraging a third-grade friend to walk singing up their street in hopes of being discovered. Starting in her teenage years, she found interest in writing poetry and short stories, but not so much classical music. In 1995, Michelle and Mark crossed paths and quickly became a team, discovering that song writing comes naturally to her. Inspired and encouraged by Mark’s musicianship, she picked up the mandolin and then the violin. The result has created a place for her personality to shine through her songs and music.
